The Ascension - Chapter 21 - Thaddeus's Challenge

Theseus finally confronts his stepfather, Thaddeus, in the Stormcrown Mountains, determined to uncover the truth about his heritage. But Thaddeus has no intention of surrendering his secrets easily, forcing Theseus to fight for the answers he seeks.

TLDR/Summary at bottom of post.

The frigid air lashed at Theseus's face as he climbed the foothills of the Stormcrown Mountains. Gone was the humid warmth of the lowlands, replaced by furious glacial winds that howled through the crags. Each gust struck with abrasive force, scouring his exposed skin as if it were ice-laced sand against him. The landscape was a vertical nightmare of jagged stone and ice.

The peaks themselves were perpetually veiled in a swirling, electric grey shroud. The only vegetation were stunted, silver-leafed shrubs that clung to the cliffs in clusters. This was far different than the other frozen landscapes Theseus had traversed in the past.

The path eventually narrowed into a jagged spine of ice-slicked granite that clung precariously to the cliffside. One misstep would have sent Theseus plummeting, but he moved with the cautious precision of a mountain goat, his fingers raw and bleeding from the grip of frozen shale. The savage wind here threatened to peel him away from the rock, but the divine potency surging in his veins kept his muscles warm and his resolve iron. As he rounded a final, blinding bend of frost-covered basalt, the oppressive grey of the Stormcrowns parted to reveal a singular sanctuary.

Perched on a ledge that seemed to defy gravity was a hermitage of weathered cedar and rough-hewn stone, as if it were a natural outgrowth of the mountain itself. The structure was low-slung, its heavy roof weighted down by massive river stones to prevent the gale from lifting it into the sky. The wood was silvered by age and salt, etched with deep, swirling runes that seemed to pulse with a faint, dormant energy. It was a place of silence, tucked into the crook of a granite amphitheater that shielded it from the worst of the alpine fury.

In front of the humble dwelling, a campfire roared with unnatural vigor. The gold and vermillion flames burned bright, the only presence of warmth in this forsaken wasteland. There sat a man cleaning a beautiful though simple sword with the color of solid steel but with a tinge of glacial blue.

The man by the fire did not look up as Theseus approached. Though he looked to be in his fifth decade, the man was a monolith of raw, functional power. His frame remained towering, a vertical expanse of hard-won muscle that hadn't succumbed to the erosion of time. The heavy wool of his tunic strained against shoulders that were as broad as a yoke. His limbs long and corded with veins that looked like frozen rivers beneath his translucent skin. His eyes were a startling, piercing blue, the shade of the deep glaciers that clung to the mountain's peak. His hair and beard were once color of warm chestnut; now, they were streaked with a wintery gray, like ash falling over a dying ember. Even his skin had surrendered its vitality, the stunning bronze of his youth having faded into a ghostly, pale olive, as if the mountain had slowly drained the color from his blood.

Theseus remained motionless, his presence a silent shadow against the backdrop of the screaming gale. He watched the hypnotic motion of the cloth as the man polished the glacial-blue steel, the fabric sliding over the blade. The fire crackled, sending sparks dancing into the grey sky, but the man’s focus remained locked on the edge of the sword, his blue eyes tracing the line of the steel rather than focusing on his visitor.

"It has been a long time, Thaddeus," Theseus finally spoke quietly. He didn't move closer, respecting the invisible boundary of the fire’s warmth. He waited for a flinch, a glance, or even a sigh of recognition, but the man by the fire remained a statue of weathered cedar and stone.

Silence.

Thaddeus did not break his focus. For a long minute, the only sound was the crackle of the vermillion flames and the pilgrimage of the cloth against the sword. Then, without shifting his gaze from the steel, Thaddeus spoke, his voice a low, resonant rumble that seemed to vibrate from the very bedrock of the mountain.

"So the prodigal son has returned," Thaddeus spoke mockingly. "He has finally crawled back from the dirt of the lowlands. Tell me, boy, why have you returned?"

Thaddeus slowly sheathed the sword with a sharp, metallic “clink.”

Theseus didn't flinch, though the cold of the mountain felt suddenly secondary to the chill in Thaddeus’s voice. He took a single step forward, entering the golden radius of the fire. "You know why I am here," he replied, his voice steady. "I didn't climb the Stormcrowns for a reunion. I came for the truth of my blood, my true father. If I harness his power, I can tear Leonidas from his throne."

Thaddeus let out a short, dry laugh that sounded like grinding stones. He didn't stand, but the air around him seemed to thicken. "The truth is a heavy burden, son. You think that because you've survived a few bouts of blood-sport, you are prepared for the revelation of what you actually are, of what lies deep within you.”

He finally looked up, his glacial blue eyes gazed upon's Theseus's hazel eyes. "Son, you mistake survival for mastery, and that is the most dangerous delusion of all. At best you are not ready for the truth. At worse, you are unworthy."

Refusing to back down, Theseus clenched his jaw. “Stepson… Not your son. I have bled the divine and broken the unbreakable. I am ready.”

Thaddeus’s lip curled into a sneer, a flicker of genuine mockery dancing in his gaze. "Ready?" He leaned forward, the warmth of the fire illuminating the deep lines of his face. "Tell me, is this the same 'readiness' when you first sought to challenge Leonidas? That blind, stumbling arrogance that you mistook for strength?"

He stood up then, his towering frame blotting out the fire, casting a monolithic shadow over Theseus. "Leonidas did not just defeat you that day. He castrated you, Theseus. Not once, but over and over. He harvested you repeatedly, severing your organs of your manhood, only to let the divine spark in your blood knit them back together just so he could destroy them again. A cycle of ruin and rebirth, played out for the amusement of his entire Phalanx. They laughed as you screamed into the void."

Theseus felt a phantom ache bloom in his groin. The memory of the King’s cruel blade severing his cock, his nuts reduced to pulp countless times. It was a systematic erasure of his identity, a torture designed to break the spirit by obliterating the source of masculine power.

"You were a sobbing, broken thing, on the dirt floor, Theseus," Thaddeus continued, his voice cutting through the wind like a blade. “Your cooling cocks and crushed nuts littered the floor like leaves in autumn. You didn't survive that day because of your 'divine spark.' You survived because I stepped from the shadows and dragged your ruined carcass away before Leonidas could finish the job.”

Theseus felt an unbearable wave of shame. He saw himself, not as the apex predator of the battle royale, but as a shivering, helpless boy.

Thaddeus's men formed a living wall of iron and flesh to shield the retreat, a desperate rearguard action with catastrophic consequences. One by one, they had been cut down, all to rescue a boy.  In the end, Thaddeus’s force had been decimated, their ranks thinned to a handful of broken survivors. Thaddeus had chosen him over his army, the army that was meant to free the land from the tyrant king.

The weight of those deaths pressed down heavily on Theseus’s shoulders. He spent years avoiding the gaze of the few surviving veterans, unable to look into the eyes of the men who had lost their limbs or their brothers to save a life that felt unworthy of the sacrifice.  It was a debt that could not be repaid.

But just as Theseus wavered, he remembered the Norseman with azure eyes and freckles on his face. He remembered what he had to sacrifice to fulfill his destiny. And though the demigod's hesitated, his head did not bow.

"I was an arrogant child then. I am more experienced and stronger now, Thaddeus. I have endure trials and tribulations. This time, the tyrant king's cock will be mine."

Thaddeus's laughter boomed from deep within his chest, echoing across the mountainside like the rumble of distant thunder. There was no warmth in it, only biting mockery.

"You harvest the tyrant's cock?" Thaddeus repeated, the words saturated in amusement and disdain. "You've been hit in the head too many times, boy. You are meek prey before a starving wolf." But deep in his soul, he knew that the boy before him was the people’s last hope for freedom.

He stepped closer, his massive frame blotting out the golden warmth of the fire, plunging Theseus into a sudden, biting chill.

"But I will offer you a bargain," Thaddeus said. "A simple duel. We fight here, upon this frozen shale, with no armor and no witnesses but the mountain,” a mocking smile plastered on his face. "If you can strip me of my manhood, I will tell you the truth of your heritage. But if I cleave yours from your body, you will remain here and train under me until I decide you are worthy to leave."

Thaddeus held the Spartan demigod's gaze without wavering. His eyes were as cold and unyielding as the Stormcrown Mountains themselves, daring Theseus to refuse.

Theseus held his breath as the weight of the proposal sank in. Thaddeus was a living monument to Spartan lethality, the apex of a culture that viewed the body as a weapon. In his prime, Thaddeus had dismantled countless bloodlines, even those of demigods like a scythe through summer wheat, leaving a trail of castrated ruins in his wake. One misplaced step, one lapse in concentration, and Theseus's manhood will be a rapidly cooling piece of meat on the floor.

But again, the memory of the night with Jonas came surging back again. He had sacrificed his desires, his peace, the very concept of a normal life to reclaim what was his. There was no turning back.

"I accept."

A smile formed on Thaddeus's face.

"Then strip. Prepare yourself to be made into a little girl. I’ve always wanted a daughter.”

The wool and leather fell away in a heap of discarded remnants, leaving the two men stark and exposed against the backdrop of the howling gale. They stood as contrasting pillars of masculinity in the flickering gold of the bonfire: Theseus, his skin pebbled with gooseflesh, shivering in an involuntary tremor that he fought to suppress with every fiber of his being. The mountain air sought out every inch of his exposed flesh to leach away his warmth, yet he kept his jaw locked and his gaze steady. He would rather freeze than grant his stepfather the satisfaction of a visible flaw.

In the lowlands, Theseus's cock was a masterpiece, but in the bitter cold, it was a liability. It was covered in network of superficial veins filled with warm blood, allowing the wind to rapidly sap heat from the organ. Below, his scrotum was taut as a wire, straining to rein in the ripe plums from the frigid alpine air. One careless burst of speed or clumsy movement and his orbs would tear open his scrotum.

Thaddeus, by contrast, seemed to exist in a different climate entirely. His massive, pale-olive frame radiated a natural heat that countered the frost. There was no tension in his shoulders, no tightening of the muscle; this was home. His heavy, weathered anatomy hung with a relaxed, seasoned confidence.

In their hands, the steel spoke. Theseus gripped his blade with a white-knuckled intensity, the edge humming with the raw aggression of a man who had fought his way out of the pits. Opposite him, Thaddeus held the mysterious blue-steel blade with a loose, deceptive grip, shimmering in the light of the fire.

Theseus found his gaze drifting, almost involuntarily, to the heavy architecture of Thaddeus’s groin. He had faced the most formidable specimens of the arena, but there was something singularly imposing about the man’s anatomy. The hefty, veiny cock was a study in rugged, functional beauty, the skin a pale, weathered olive that seemed as enduring as the mountain stone. Most striking of all was the singular, massive testicle that hung low and proud—a solitary, plump orb of immense girth that seemed to anchor Thaddeus’s entire frame. It was a heavy, singular weight, brimming with a concentrated potency that felt like a physical pressure against the air. To Theseus, it looked less like an organ and more like a polished boulder of virility, a singular seed of power that commanded a primal sort of respect.

Thaddeus noticed the gaze and let out a low, rumbling chuckle that vibrated through the shale. "Admiring the view? Be careful. That curiosity is exactly what leads a man to lose his focus, and focus is the only thing that keeps your seed inside your skin."

Without another word, Thaddeus vanished. He didn't move so much as he blurred, a sudden displacement of air and muscle that sent a spray of frost flying. The blue-steel blade whistled through the air, a shimmering arc of ice and metal that aimed straight for Theseus’s shoulder. Theseus reacted on instinct, twisting his torso and bringing his blade up in a desperate parry. The impact was like being hit by a falling cliff; the force of the blow vibrated through his teeth, sending a jarring shock of electricity up his arm and nearly knocking him off his feet.

Thaddeus did not give him a moment to recover. The blue-steel blade became a whirlwind of glacial precision, each strike coming faster and heavier than the last. If Talos had been a storm, Thaddeus was the mountain itself collapsing upon him. Theseus found himself retreating, his sandals slipping on the frosted shale, his arms numb from the sheer kinetic force of the parries. He was fighting a man who didn't just move through the air, but seemed to command it, slicing through the wind with a rhythmic, terrifying efficiency that reduced Theseus's legendary combat prowess to a desperate struggle for breath.

The gap in their mastery was a canyon. Every time Theseus attempted a counter-strike, Thaddeus was already gone, appearing in his blind spot with a clinical flick of the wrist that left shallow, stinging cuts across Theseus's ribs and thighs. The commander of the late king's elite guard didn't fight with the feral rage of the arena; he fought with the cold, mathematical certainty of an executioner.

That moment arrived as a sudden gust of wind slammed into Theseus's back, knocking him off center by a mere inch. It was all the opening Thaddeus needed.

The blue-steel blade descended in a blur of iridescent light, a precise, horizontal shear that bypassed Theseus’s frantic guard. The edge parted the skin of the scrotum with the effortless ease of a hot wire through wax. There was a sudden, sickening lack of tension, and then the gravity of the mountain took hold.

SCHLICCKK! ...plooop ... plooop

Theseus gasped as he felt the sudden sting and looked down just in time to see his own plump testicles tumble out of the ruptured skin, dangling precariously, suspended by the glistening, white threads of the spermatic cords. They swung like gruesome pendulums against his inner thighs, their warmth causing them to steam in the freezing alpine air. The cold air burned his testicles. He could feel his unborn warriors frost over. He needed to use his divine powers to heal his ruined ball sack. Just a golden glow started to encase his scrotum, a thunderous voice broke his concentration.

"Don't you dare!" Thaddeus roared, his voice booming louder than the mountain gale. He stepped forward, his glacial eyes locking onto the panic in his stepson's gaze. "You will not hide behind a miracle today. You will fight as you are—broken, exposed, and shivering."

Theseus felt the instinctive surge of the regeneration beginning to tingle along the seam of his ball sack, warmth attempting to knit the ruptured skin back together. But Thaddeus’s statement was a crushing revelation. The pain and suffering was a testament to their resolve. To use his divine powers was to admit that Theseus lacked the strength and resilience to face Leonidas. Thus Theseus forced himself to remain degloved.

Theseus stood frozen, his breath coming in ragged, crystalline gasps. Though his testicles were freezing, they felt as if they were on fire. The alpine air caused the moisture on the surface of the organs to crystallize, forming jagged, microscopic needles of ice that pierced the seminiferous tubules. The plump, warm orbs, once the pride of his restored masculinity, began to turn into a pale, sickly gray as the blood vessels constricted in a desperate attempt to save the core. They ached as the tissue was being deprived of oxygen. It was as if the air itself had hands and was torsing his bollocks.

Thaddeus lowered his blade and stepped closer.  A slow smile crept across his weathered features, though his eyes remained as cold as the peaks surrounding them. "You think I intended to end the match early, boy?" he rumbled, his voice cutting through the wind."I didn't want your seed on the shale; I wanted you to feel the mountain," Thaddeus explained, his gaze dropping to the pale, shivering orbs dangling precariously from the ruptured skin. "I wanted you to remember the searing quality of the air hitting your nerves when Leonidas castrated you over and over."

Theseus snarled. Thaddeus was using the climate of the Stormcrowns as a tool of psychological torture. He wanted Theseus to shrink, to curl into a fetal ball of shame and shivering tissue, admitting that he was still the helpless boy he once was.

The agony was a white-hot wire coiled around his nerves, but Theseus used it. He transformed searing exposure of his dangling testicles into a focal point of raw, desperate aggression. As Thaddeus stepped closer, confident in his psychological victory, Theseus exploded forward, his movement not a graceful glide but a feral, lunging snap. He didn't go for the blade; he dove low, sliding across the frosted shale with a roar that tore through the mountain silence.

His shoulder slammed into Thaddeus’s thigh with the force of a battering ram, and for the first time, the monolith of a man staggered. In that fraction of a second, Theseus abandoned the sword, his fingers curling into talons of meat and bone. He reached upward, his hand bypassing the blue-steel blade to seize the singular, massive orb of Thaddeus’s groin. He gripped the solitary testicle with a crushing, desperate strength, his fingers digging into the pale-olive skin as if trying to rip the very anchor of Thaddeus's power from his body.

Thaddeus let out a sharp, guttural grunt, his composure fracturing. The sudden, disrespectful intrusion of Theseus’s hand, frigid and stony, was a shock that bypassed his tactical brilliance. For a moment, the two men were locked in a grotesque embrace: Theseus, degloved and steaming in the frost, clinging to the singular, heavy weight of his stepfather's virility; and Thaddeus, towering and shocked, his glacial eyes wide with the realization that the boy had stopped playing by the rules of a duel and started fighting like a beast.

With a guttural roar that shook the shale beneath them, Theseus shifted his weight, utilizing his superior leverage to pivot his hips in a brutal, twisting arc. The movement was a thunderclap of muscle and bone, wrenching himself free with such explosive force that Theseus was flung backward, his fingers slipping from the olive-hued skin like wet silk. But as Theseus tumbled, Thaddeus didn't retreat. He launched a counter-strike with the precision of a falling landslide.

His massive, calloused fist descended in a descending hammer-blow, aimed not at Theseus's head, but directly at the exposed, shivering vulnerability of his groin. The impact was catastrophic. Thaddeus’s fist collided with one of Theseus's dangling testicles with the full weight of a Spartan’s conditioned power.

SPLOOOSH!!!!

There was no gradual compression, only a sudden explosion sound of a ripe fruit being crushed by a stone. The internal architecture of the organ collapsed instantly; the delicate seminiferous tubules ruptured, and the concentrated seed within exploded outward in a violent spray of biological debris.

The shockwave of the blow tore through the surrounding tissue, leaving the organ a mangled, pulpy ruin of shredded membranes and ruptured veins. As the organ burst, the mountain air, hungry and glacial, rushed into the open wound of the internal anatomy. The freezing wind invaded the very core of the ruined testicle, flash-freezing the leaking fluids and crystallizing the exposed innards. The warmth of Theseus's blood turned into jagged needles of ice within seconds, turning the internal wreckage into a frozen, splintered mass of dead tissue.

The scream that ripped from Theseus’s throat was a howl that tore through the mountain air, competing with the shriek of the gale. He collapsed, his knees hitting the frosted shale with a bone-jarring thud, his body folding inward as the world narrowed down to the white-hot epicenter of the explosion between his legs. The sensation was an agonizing paradox—a searing, electric fire that instantly transitioned into a void of numbing, crystalline cold as the internal ruins of his testicle flash-froze in the alpine air. He gasped, his lungs burning, staring down at the mangled, steaming pulp that now dangled uselessly.

Thaddeus stood over him, a monolith of weathered stone and muscle. For a fleeting second, the glacial hardness in his blue eyes flickered, replaced by a shadow of something ancient and paternal. He watched the way Theseus shivered, the way the boy’s fingers clawed desperately at the freezing rock, and a flood of empathy stirred in the Spartan’s chest. He knew the specific, hollowing horror of that kind of loss, the silence that followed the destruction of a man’s seed. But most of all Theseus was his child. He had poured his strength and soul raising the young man before him.

But Thaddeus suppressed the instinct to reach out. In the Stormcrowns, mercy was merely a slower way to die, and a premature hand of help would only stunt the growth of the warrior Theseus needed to become.

Suddenly, Thaddeus felt a sudden, sharp sting in his own groin—a cold, sliding sensation that made his breath hitch. He looked down, glancing past his massive thigh, and saw a jagged, crimson slit in the pale-olive leather of his scrotum. Theseus’s desperate, twisting grip had not been in vain; the fingernails had acted like miniature razors, carving a small, leaking tear into the skin. The singular, massive orb remained safely encased, but the breach was a warning.

Then Theseus rose from the ground. As he stood, Thaddeus could feel the power radiating from his stepson, a tempest brewing. The innocence that had once dwelled in the young demigod's eyes was gone. In its place, rage and resilience.

Thaddeus shifted his stance, his muscles tightening. He could not afford a single moment of carelessness…

TLDR: Theseus treks through the merciless winds and treacherous terrain of the Stormcrown Mountains before finally reaching the cottage of his stepfather, Thaddeus. Instead of the welcome he might have once expected, Theseus is met with icy contempt. Thaddeus reminds him of the devastating defeat he suffered at the hands of the tyrant Leonidas, but Theseus insists that he has grown stronger since then.

Theseus reveals that he has returned seeking answers about his heritage, believing the truth of his bloodline may hold the key to defeating Leonidas. Thaddeus mocks his ambition but agrees to reveal what he knows on one condition: Theseus must defeat him and castrate him in battle. Should Theseus win, his stepfather would agree to divulge his lineage. Should he lose however, he is to stay with Thaddeus to train until Thaddeus deems him ready to face Leonidas. Theseus accepts the offer.

The two warriors clash, but Theseus quickly finds himself outmatched. Though Thaddeus is mortal, his experience and skill allow him to seize the advantage. Desperate, Theseus attempts to rely on his regenerative abilities, only for Thaddeus to shame him for depending on a power rather than his own strength.

As the battle rage on, Theseus’s nut sack was sliced open, his testicles exposed to the open air. Soon after, one of his testicles is obliterated. Just as Thaddeus expects Theseus to finally fall, he realizes his scrotum was partially torn open. He turns to Theseus and watches as his stepson’s power begin to surge. In that moment, Thaddeus realizes the tide has turned and that a single mistake could cost him the duel....
