The Ascension - Chapter 22 - The Price Of Prophecy

Theseus and his stepfather, Thaddeus, continue their fateful duel as Thaddeus reveals the true purpose behind their battle. With the fate of both warriors hanging in the balance, the duel’s outcome will determine what comes next.

TLDR/Summary at bottom of post.

____________________________________________

Theseus was half-ruined. His right testicle was crushed: the nut pulp leaking out the lumpy, partially deflated in chunks. His left was still intact but rapidly freezing in the cold air. Despite the immeasurable pain, his focus was solely on Thaddeus, the mighty Spartan commander and his stepfather.

The searing pain from his part castration was a white-hot dagger that pierced through the shock and ignited a reservoir of primal rage Theseus hadn't known he possessed. The frozen ruins of his anatomy were a numb, steaming weight between his thighs, but his eyes burned with flames greater than the bonfire before him. Fury flooded his veins, countering the mountain's chill with a surge of adrenaline.

Thaddeus’s eyes narrowed, sensing the shift in the air. Taking initiative, he launched himself forward in a blur of olive-skinned power, his blue-steel blade whistling in a vicious, descending arc. But Theseus was no longer the clumsy youth of the lowlands or the desperate survivor of the pits. He moved with a fluidity that mirrored the wind, slipping beneath the blade’s trajectory with grace and mastery that caught Thaddeus off guard. He pivoted on a heel of frosted shale, his body a coiled spring of divine potential, and met Thaddeus’s momentum with a shoulder-check that sounded like two boulders colliding.

The impact sent a shockwave through Thaddeus’s massive frame, rattling his teeth and momentarily disrupting his center of gravity. Theseus didn't give him a second to stabilize. He blurred inward, with the speed and power of a lion. He parried a strike from Thaddeus and stepped deep into the man's guard, his chest colliding with Thaddeus’s broad torso. The two men became a tangled mass of sweating, shivering muscle, locked in a struggle of raw, unfiltered power.

Theseus did not seek the blade this time but used his hand. In a sudden, violent lunge that bypassed Thaddeus’s ribs, Theseus dipped his shoulder and drove his hand upward with the precision of a hawk striking prey. His fingers locked around the weathered, olive-hued leather of Thaddeus’s scrotum, gripping the singular, massive orb with a crushing force. With a scream of exertion, Theseus he twisted and wrenched his hand downward in a jagged, ripping motion.

RRRRIIIIIIIPPPPPPP!!!

The sound was like heavy canvas tearing under a gale. The skin surrendered, splitting wide open and exposed the inner sanctum of the Spartan’s virility. The singular, solitary testicle was suddenly thrust into the biting alpine air, stripped of its protective casing. It was a magnificent, terrifying specimen. Its surface a pale, translucent cream shot through with a network of pulsing, violet veins that looked like lightning frozen in marble. The organ was an immense sphere of concentrated masculinity that shimmered with a faint, iridescent sheen. It hung there, exposed and vulnerable, a singular seed of power now stripped of its armor. But unlike Theseus's testicles, it was impervious to the savage mountain winds.

Thaddeus let out a roar that vibrated through the very shale they stood upon. The sudden, searing shock of the cold air hitting the exposed membrane of his singular orb caused his entire frame to shudder. He recoiled, his blue-steel blade slipping from his grip and clattering onto the stone, as his body instinctively curled around the site of the rupture. The monolith of a man was no longer an immovable object but a wounded predator

Theseus saw the opening and lunged forward, his fingers locking onto that magnificent, iridescent sphere of cream and violet. He gripped it with every ounce of strength remaining in his arm, his knuckles turning white as he squeezed. He envisioned the organ collapsing, the concentrated seed of the Spartan commander bursting like a melon beneath his thumb. He twisted and crushed, pouring his rage into a singular, pulverizing motion, expecting the wet snap of ruptured tissue.

But as he squeezed, Theseus felt his hand meet something that didn't feel like flesh at all. The testicle didn't yield; it didn't compress or deform. It felt like gripping a polished sphere of diamond wrapped in silk. No matter how hard he clenched, the organ remained stubbornly spherical, pulsing with life.

Recovering rapidly, Thaddeus’s face hardened as he focused on his stepson. As Theseus squeezed the indestructible sphere, the Spartan’s hand shot out with the speed of a viper. Theseus's eyes widened and he abandoned his assault on his stepfather's testicle, propelling himself backwards instead.

He was partially successful.

Thaddeus missed the intact testicle but was able to nab the ruined one. He clutched the steaming pulp of Theseus’s remaining anatomy. His massive fingers clamped shut around the mangled remains of the frost-bitten testicle with a predatory precision. Thaddeus  wrenched, his forearm muscles bulging like coiled pythons as he exerted a violent, twisting leverage.

POOOPPP!

The spermatic cord tore like wet parchment. The sickening slick sound of ruptured connective tissue being torn from the pelvic wall permeated the air; Thaddeus had ripped the mangled organ clean from Theseus’s body. The young man let out a strangled gasp, his body arching as the last physical anchor to his seed was violently severed.

Thaddeus didn't let the trophy fall. He held the shredded, grey-purple mass aloft, his eyes locking onto Theseus’s fading gaze. Then, with a slow, deliberate deliberation, Thaddeus closed his fist and squeezed the ruined organ under the crushing pressure of the Spartan’s grip. The frozen remnants of the testicle shattered!

CCCRRRAAAACCKKKKKK!!! ..... SPPLOOOOSH!

The crystalline ice within the tissue snapped, and the remaining cellular walls exploded into a spray of frozen shards and biological slurry. In an instant, the once-proud source of Theseus’s potency was reduced to a handful of crushed, crimson grit and frozen slush. Thaddeus opened his hand to display the testicle to his half-castrated stepson, never taking his glacial blue eyes off of Theseus's hazel eyes. Theseus eyes widened in horror as he saw the mountain wind scatter the remains of his testicle.

Thaddeus let the frozen slurry drift away on the wind, his expression one of cold fury. He looked down at the half-frozen but still-intact remaining orb clinging to Theseus's body, a solitary survivor of the carnage. "You are fortunate, boy," Thaddeus snarled, his voice regaining its monolithic steadiness. "I was unable to harvest your unscathed one in time before you retreated like a coward. But now I will obliterate your unborn sons with my bare hands."

Theseus's hazel eyes narrowed, his pupils shrinking to pinpoints beneath a glare of steely resolve. Once, he would have conceded defeat. Once, he might even have begged for mercy. But that man no longer existed.

Not anymore.

If he could not surpass his stepfather, then he would never stand a chance against Leonidas. Whatever the cost, he would prove himself here, on this frozen mountainside. This was his moment.

As Thaddeus shifted his weight to step back and end the bout, Theseus lunged forward.

As Thaddeus launched a final, heavy-handed blow meant to render his stepson unconscious. Theseus dove forward, sliding beneath the Spartan Commander's reach, his chest skimming the frozen rock. In one fluid, feral arc, he surged upward from the dirt, bypassing the legs and striking deep into the heart of Thaddeus’s vulnerability.

Theseus didn’t aim to crush the iridescent sphere this time; he knew the diamond-hard resilience of the organ would only break his own fingers. Instead, he anchored his heels into the frozen shale and locked his arm into a rigid, unwavering lever. He wrapped his hand around the singular, massive orb of Thaddeus’s groin and leaned back with every ounce of his remaining weight, executing a violent heave.

RRRIIIIPPPPPPP!!!!! ..... POOOPPP!

The connective tissue reached its breaking point and with a sickening tearing sound with a "POP", the singular testicle was torn clean from the pelvic wall. The rupture was catastrophic. From both ends of the severed vas deferens, thick, concentrated seed erupted in pressurized spurts, spraying across the battlefield like molten silver. The viscous fluid saturated the frigid alpine air, falling in heavy globs that coated Theseus’s shivering skin and matted his hair in the most concentrated man chowder Theseus has ever witnessed. He was drenched in his step father's cum, the seed of the man who raised him as a child.

Thaddeus froze. For the first time in decades, the Spartan commander’s widened and went completely still.

Theseus remained frozen, his fingers still curled around the iridescent, diamond-hard sphere of Thaddeus’s virility. The world seemed to contract, the howling wind of the Stormcrowns fading into a dull hum as the silver-white spray of Thaddeus's seed settled over them both. The silence that followed the rupture was absolute. Every ounce of rage suddenly drained from Theseus’s body replaced by anticipation. He had no idea how Thaddeus would react.

Then, a sound emerged from Thaddeus’s throat. It wasn't a roar or a groan of agony, but a low chuckle that started deep in his diaphragm and bubbled upward. The sound grew, transforming from a rumble into a hearty, booming laugh that shook the very shale beneath their feet. Thaddeus looked down at his own empty groin, then at the silver-coated, shivering wreck of a man before him, and threw his head back, his laughter echoing off the mountain peaks.

Theseus felt a matching bubble of absurdity and relief rise in his own chest. He looked at himself—half-castrated, drenched in the concentrated essence of his stepfather—and matched his stepfather's laugh. The two men, stripped of their dignity and their seed, collapsed against one another in a heap of shivering, exhausted muscle, their laughter merging into a singular, discordant symphony of madness and relief.

Theseus stayed on the frozen shale for a long moment, the laughter fading into a heavy, shared silence. The savage snow and winds of the mountain had died down revealing a crystal clear night sky studded with stars.  Slowly he hoisted himself from the ground, knees wobbly from the fight. As he stood, he closed his eyes and summoned the dormant heat of his divine lineage. A soft, amber glow began to emanate from between his thighs, pulsing like a heart beat. The shimmering light acted like a celestial loom, weaving together the shredded membranes and knitting ruined tissue together, restoring the masculine weight that had been so violently stripped away.

Theseus turned to the man beside him. Thaddeus lay sprawled on his back, staring up at the grey sky with an expression of profound serenity. Theseus knelt beside him, his face tight with a sudden surge of filial guilt. He reached out, gripping the family jewel he had torn away, and pressed it back against the gaping ruin of Thaddeus’s groin. He channeled the golden glow of his regeneration, expecting to restore the man who raised him.

But the iridescent orb refused to knit; the severed conduits remained dormant and cold. No matter how much power Theseus poured into the site, the regeneration failed to take hold.

Theseus looked up, horror etching itself into his features. "Why isn't it working!?”

Thaddeus released a long sigh, a pale plume of breath dissolving into the mountain air. “Prophecies demand a price, Theseus. The Fates are not merchants, they do not bargain with gold, kingdoms, or glory. Their only currency is sacrifice and the Fates always collect what they are owed. It is the reason my last testicle is impervious; though it hang from my body, it belongs to the Fates."

His gaze drifted downward and stared at his severed vas deferens for a moment before returning to the young demigod.

"Long ago, the seers of Queen Celeste of the Amazons foresaw an infant washing ashore upon the coast of the Aegean Sea. That child was you. From the beginning, we knew you would play a pivotal role in overthrowing the Tyrant King. What we did not know was how that destiny would come to pass." A faint smile, equal parts pride and melancholy, crossed his weathered face. "Prophecies seldom reveal the path—only the destination. Everything between is purchased in sacrifice."

His weathered gaze remained fixed on the young Spartan.

"Queen Celeste surrendered my first testicle to secure the first half of the prophecy. Through that sacrifice, we learned my purpose was to forge you into the warrior standing before me today."

He paused, the silence hanging between them like the weight of the mountains.

"When the appointed hour arrives, the second half of the prophecy will reveal itself. We will know you are ready on the day you defeat me in a duel of the highest stakes and claim my manhood as the final sacrifice."

The gut-wrenching horror crashed over Theseus. He fell to his knees, the frozen shale biting into his skin, and let out a broken, guttural sob that echoed against the peaks of the Stormcrowns. He had spent his life craving the strength to destroy Leonidas, but in his hunger for power, he had castrated the only father he had ever known. He stared at the iridescent orb. Thaddeus’s seed would now never again find a womb. There would be no sons to inherit his blade, no grandsons to carry the memory of his tactical genius. The lineage of the great Spartan commander ended here, not in a blaze of glory on a battlefield, but in the hands of his ungrateful stepson.

"I didn't know!" Theseus tears welling in his eyes, his voice cracking as he clutched the severed organ to his chest. "You should have told me! You should have stopped me!"

Thaddeus did not speak immediately. Instead, he let the silence of the Stormcrowns settle over them before he sat down to look his stepson in the eye. He saw grief etched into the young man's face. A slow, genuine smile spread across the Spartan's weathered features. It was the expression of a mentor filled with pride. Theseus had endured every trial placed before him, emerging stronger than either of them could have imagined. In that moment, Thaddeus no longer saw the little boy he had raised, but the man, the warrior his stepson had become.

"Stop your weeping, you foolish boy," Thaddeus finally rumbled, his voice lacking its usual gravelly edge. He reached up, his massive hand gripping Theseus’s forearm with a firmness that anchored the shaking youth. “For twenty years, I have walked these mountains wondering if the boy I salvaged from the surf would ever possess the strength required to overthrow a King. Today, you didn't just take my seed; you took my pride, my strength, and my very essence. You fought like a beast, you suffered like a martyr, and you won."

Theseus looked down at the iridescent orb still clutched in his hand, the diamond-hard sphere that represented the pinnacle of Spartan virility. The weight of it felt different now—no longer a trophy of war, but a sacred trust. The guilt was still there, a cold knot in his stomach, but Thaddeus’s smile acted as a beacon, guiding him out of the darkness of his own remorse. He understood now that this was a transition of power from father to son.

"My purpose was never to be the hand that strikes the blow, but the whetstone upon which the blade is sharpened," Thaddeus smiled. He looked at his own empty groin with a detachment that bordered on the divine. "For decades, I have played my part in the great design of the gods, raising the boy of the prophecy. But now my part of the tapestry is woven and the loom now demands your hand."

He reached out, his calloused fingers grazing the iridescent sphere still held in Theseus’s trembling grip as they sat together in the frigid air. "The first half of the prophecy was revealed with my first family jewel, but the second half, your true heritage and the trials that await you, requires the payment of the second.

Thaddeus’s eyes flared with a sudden, piercing intensity, the glacial blue turning into a searing white. "You must not linger here, Theseus. You must travel to the emerald depths of the forest lands, to the hidden sanctuary in the  of the Amazons. You must bring my sacrifice to Queen Celeste. Only she possesses the wisdom to interpret the final verses of the prophecy."

"Besides," Thaddeus grinned, his voice losing its monolithic edge and softening into something almost tender, "a pretty boy like you would never last a week in the Stormcrown Heights," and with a sudden, lightning-fast flick of his wrist, he delivered a playful, resounding slap to Theseus’s newly regenerated tender balls.

The impact echoed like a gunshot against the silent shale. Theseus’s breath hitched sharply, his entire body jolting as a wave of stinging electricity shot upward through his abdomen. He let out a strangled yelp, his face twisting into a momentary, pained scowl as he clutched his groin. He whipped his head around to glare at the old warrior, ready to snap back.

He turned to face his stepfather but Thaddeus had already sprawled flat on his back, his massive arms folded comfortably behind his head like a lazy lion in the sun. He wasn't looking at Theseus; instead, his gaze was fixed upward, lost in the swirling nebula of the midnight sky, where the stars danced. All thoughts of vengeance evaporated from Theseus's mind as he gazed at the man who had broken him and rebuilt him. He looked at the iridescent sphere cradled in his palm, his stepfather's legacy and his destiny.

He lowered himself beside the Spartan commander. Lying on his back, he noticed a glob of Thaddeus’s seed clinging to the back of his hand. Theseus stuck out his tongue and lapped it up.

“You know, your ungrateful son just swallowed his tadpole brothers?” He smirked.

Their laughter echoed the mountainside before fading into a comfortable silence. Side by side, a father and son lay beneath the vast heavens, their eyes fixed on the stars and the immeasurable depths of the universe.

TLDR:

Half-castrated but unbroken, Theseus continues his brutal duel with his stepfather, Thaddeus. Drawing upon a deeper reserve of strength, the demigod turns the tide of the battle. When Thaddeus launches another assault, Theseus slips beneath his blade and strikes with devastating precision, leaving the Spartan commander’s scrotum torn apart.

Thaddeus retaliates with equal ferocity, destroying what remains of Theseus’s already-mangled right testicle. Yet Theseus refuses to yield. Driven by rage and determination, he overcomes his stepfather and delivers the final blow, ripping off his stepfather’s single gonad.

Realizing that Theseus has finally surpassed him, Thaddeus laughs and accepts his defeat. But Theseus’s triumph quickly turns to horror when he attempts to restore his stepfather through his regenerative power, only to discover that the damage cannot be undone.

Thaddeus then reveals the terrible truth: his sacrifice was part of the prophecy all along. He had surrendered himself in two stages, each sacrifice fulfilling a different half of the prophecy. Anything offered to the prophecy is permanent; once a piece of oneself has been given, not even divine power can restore it.

Thaddeus reveals to Theseus that the second sacrifice is destined for the Amazon Queen Celeste, to be delivered when the time is right and the second half of the prophecy is ready to unfold.

Seeing his stepson’s horror, Thaddeus consoles Theseus and assures him that he has now proven himself worthy. He must now seek the Amazon queen. The first half of his journey is complete, and he is finally ready to face the second half of the prophecy.

For the remainder of the night, the two remain together upon the mountainside, their battle behind them, gazing silently into the ancient stars and contemplating the fate that awaits them.
